Tesla becomes the highest-valued automaker in United States history. The previous record was held by Ford, with a valuation of $80 billion in 1999.
However, even though the company is now record holder in the US, Japanese Toyota ($232 billion) and German Volkswagen ($98 billion) are still above it.
Tesla has more than doubled its stock price in the last quarter, which could be thanks to the following things:
- it turned into profit;
- the first made-in-China Model 3s started to ship to consumers;
- and it is beating the electric-car segment in the US by massive numbers.
